‘JEONG’ got me in trouble

Recently, I leant of a Korean verb ‘jeong’ which is simply explained as warm hearted love. But apparently, it’s actually more than that. It’s love, affection, empathy, compassion, sympathy, community, attachment etc

I am in that sad category of people who have jeong. Which means I don’t usually think twice about bankrupting my self to help some one else, I see the world through rose coloured glasses most of the time, I take people at face value, and kind of think every one is as honest as me, and by the time I find out not i’m usually knee deep in trouble!! haha

Having jeong is like an easy ticket to disappointment and I have been told this quite a few times. I have been dissapointed and heartbroken a few…I’m glad I’ve lost count because it would be too much to bear. When things happen I learn from them ofcourse, (otherwise i would be a daft plum if I learnt nothing lol). But I am convinced that if any one of my friends was in prison and asked me to swap with them I would totally say yes!!

Recently, I found myself in an almost life threatening situation, I came out of it ok but I was completely shaken for days and weeks after and I couldn’t help thinking that it all could have gone south, and it was all for trying to help and look out for a ‘friend’.

It can be a hard thing finding balance in knowing when to say yes and when to say no and knowing when people have ulterior motives and when they dont, the truth of the matter is that most of the time you might not know.

Despite all this, I don’t think I could ever want to change the real me. I don’t ever wanna walk through life a cold shell of a human being. So despite all this, I still smile and chose to be kind and believe the best in all situations and the best of people.

DO IT ANYWAY – Mother Theresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.  If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
    Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank,
    people may cheat you.
    Be honest and frank anyway.

    What you spend years building,
    someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness,
    they may be jealous.
    Be happy anyway.

    The good you do today,
    people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough.
Give the best you’ve got anyway.

    You see,
    in the end it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anyway

    24 Hours in Vancouver

On my recent trip to Canada, I got the opportunity to make a whirlwind stop in Vancouver. It was a long shot because  I was in Alberta and only had just over 36 hrs to make it all happen but it was so worth it!Because Canada is such a massive country with no high-speed trains to connect you from one city to another, travelling around can be a bit tedious and it’s quite possible to spend more hours on the road than you imagined!  Continue reading
